Do you need food support?

The Foodbank service is free although, when you are able, we ask that you give back to the Foodbank.

Welcome to Taupō Foodbank

We are a part of Awhina Society providing support (in the form of food parcels) to families and people in need in the Taupō Community.

If you or someone you know needs our help, please get in touch with us either by phone on 07 377 1507 (answer phone service) or email foodbank@awhina.org.nz.

We offer a delivery service to your home or we can arrange a mutual meeting point Monday to Friday afternoons.

If you are working or in receipt of a benefit, please call Work & Income on 0800 559 009 to check if you are entitled to any food assistance first. You may also be entitled to accommodation or temporary additional support if you meet certain criteria.

Aside from offering individual food parcels for families & people in the region, we also support organisations that offer wrap around services with regular food deliveries:

Toi Ohomai Student Assistance
Taupō Police
Pensioner Paetiki Programme
Mangakino Community Centre

Every year our Awhina Angels help with our Christmas Appeal collecting, sorting & distributing wrapped presents to bless whānau in the region.

How Can You Help?

Every week we are seeing demand for food support services increase. In our cost of living crisis more families are struggling to make ends meet and food is one of the easiest things to ask for.

Taupō Foodbank relies on your generosity to ensure families have something to put on the table. It doesn't have to be a lot, everything is used and nothing goes to waste.

Aside from food items, you can also donate in the form of money to the foodbank so we are able to top up our stocks and keep our operations running to reach more people in need.

Every donation big or small helps to make a huge difference in our community.

Monetary donations are gratefully accepted and receipts can be given for tax purposes.
If you wish to be a regular donor we can arrange an automatic payment.
